Henry David Thoreau once said that “the world is but a canvas to our imaginations”. I totally agree.

In The Bahamas, we’ve always had unfettered access to luxury real estate magazines like “Residence International” and of course the renowned “Christie’s Great Estates”. In previous years, I would just skim through both of these and others but my imagination would not be piqued. As I drew nearer and nearer to the age of thirty and had yet to purchase a home, I guess the burden of acquiring my own began to weigh down upon me.

When thirty hit (like an anvil), I really began to take note of these publications. My girlfriend and I began to collect, cut out snippets and draw plans for what we wanted our dream home to be, using the various themes and ideas we had amassed from these magazines. It’s a good thing they don’t come out daily or we would have become totally obsessed!

Complete with recreation room, projectors, aquariums and rock gardens our guests are sure to enjoy this home even more than us – of course once it gets built someday. I’m quite positive though that as newer editions come out our plans will change. They may get more complex or even simpler but that’s the great thing about imagination – no eraser or architect needed for alterations.

So as you skim, peruse and study the pictures and information I have posted, I encourage you to unchain your mind and allow yourself to own a home just like the ones you see here; at least if not in reality one day then in your imagination right now. You may find solace and comfort as I have, much like that of when listening to your favourite piece of soothing music. It also helps not to think about the lucky bastards who actually do live in these places though! Imagine it’s your very own.

Feel free to let your eyes roam and your imaginations run wild and please do encourage others around you to dream and dream some more because, as Albert Einstein once said, “imagination is everything; it is the preview of life’s coming attractions”! Besides, if the owners of the homes posted here didn’t dream first, then we would have nothing to dream about today… :)

Warmest regards and welcome to my blog, Real-Estate-I-Love.com
